Barley

Barley is mostly used in the production of whisky or whiskey, depending on your spelling! Most notable is Scotch, often made from 100 percent barley, and malt. The smokey taste and aroma of Scotch comes from the peat fires which dry the malt used in its production.

It is also one of the most common forms of malt used in alcohol production, and often used as the malt portion in moonshine, even if other grains such as corn, are used as the main grain.
